What’s the big difference in relevancy between Keywords and Topics?

Keywords are good for search queries and monitoring around any mention of a brand or product. The problem is that a keyword search typically just pulls back any content that may mention the word. This leads to a lot of clutter to sift through and often very broad, unfocused content. PublishThis, and our TopicRank system, offers a new, topic-oriented way to show relevant content, clutter removed, based on data we know about the topic.

Using vast databases (open-source, proprietary, and client-provided) to better understand what topics are “featured” in the content we index, we have a unique ability to filter the content and hone in on what really features the topic your customers really care about. For example, when you try and find content about Facebook, we know about all of their products, people, events, locations, etc. and will give you a full content stream that is all about Facebook, not just any time the word “Facebook” is mentioned in the text. The PublishThis data-powered, semantic search technology vastly improves relevancy and makes for a much more efficient curation process and ultimately a cleaner content feed to your customers.
